WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT ON THE CIS INTERNATIONAL AGENDA

The article reveals the role and place of women’s empowerment and gender equality among the priorities of the international organization of the Commonwealth of Independent States, provides information on normative documents containing the organization’s key recommendations to member countries on the implementation of policies in the field of gender equality and the realization and protection of women’s rights, identifies the specifics of the CIS approach to defining priority areas of gender policy, formation and implementation of strategies and plans in the field of achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment, analysis and monitoring of key indicators and results in this area. The authors describe in detail the activities of the largest CIS platform specializing in the promotion and implementation of the women’s agenda, the Eurasian Women’s Forum, in terms of its evolution over the 10 years of its existence and from a comparative perspective, comparing the strategic priorities of the Eurasian Women’s Forum with the priorities of major international and regional specialized organizations.
