WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT ON THE INTERNATIONAL AGENDA OF THE BRICS COUNTRIES

The article reveals the specifics and priorities of the implementation of the women’s agenda within the framework of the BRICS organization, assesses the importance of the issue of women’s empowerment for the organization as a whole and its individual member countries, describes the main bodies responsible for developing measures and programs to empower women and protect their rights, as well as the main events organized with the aim is to support women’s leadership and the interaction of women leaders in various fields in the BRICS territory. An assessment is given of measures to develop programs and implement projects in the field of providing the well-being of women during Russia’s BRICS presidency. The authors of the article also provide a general description of the situation in the field of women’s empowerment and rights protection in Russia, outline the strategic priorities of Russian government policy in this area, and identify the degree to which such priorities correspond to the priorities formulated within the framework of the BRICS. As a result of the analysis, the authors conclude that the problems and strategic priorities of the Russian Federation in the field of women’s empowerment and protection of their rights almost completely overlap with the BRICS women’s agenda. Thus, both BRICS and the Russian government focus on stimulating women’s leadership, providing opportunities and rightsdefence in the economic sphere, especially in the field of knowledge-based or digital entrepreneurship, empowering women in the field of healthcare, protecting childhood and motherhood, supporting women working in agriculture, etc.
